Programme of Cooperation for Climate Change Adaptation in West Africa

The “Programme of Cooperation for Climate Change Adaptation in West Africa” aims at greatly improving the provision of accurate weather forecasts and early warnings. The programme will help improve crop planning and increase agricultural productivity, limit the spread of climate sensitive diseases and epidemics, and reduce the socioeconomic impact of extreme climatic events. This will be achieved by reinforcing the capacity of national meteorological and hydrological services, empowering them to deliver more accurate weather predictions in the long term and demonstrating the positive impact of improved climate and weather services on the social and economic lives of rural people in Africa.
