Project tabsOverviewGlobal Water Partnership (GWP)The Integrated Drought Management Programme works with a wide range of partners with the objective of supporting stakeholders at all levels by providing them with policy and management guidance through globally coordinated generation of scientific information and sharing best practices and knowledge for integrated drought management. The IDMP is a contribution to GFCS especially with regards to the disaster risk reduction, water, agriculture and food security priority areas. It seeks to support regions and countries to develop more proactive drought policies and better predictive mechanisms. WMO/GWP held a Preparatory Meeting in 6-7 June 2013. A Technical Support Unit was created at WMO in July/August 2013 Advisory and ad-hoc Management Committee Meeting was held in October 2013 establishing its governance structure and activity plan. The 1st IDMP regional programme in Central and Eastern Europe (IDMP CEE) is operational since 3rd quarter of 2013. A project manager for IDMP Horn of Africa and West Africa was hired in 2nd Quarter of 2014 and activities for IDMP activities in South Asia were started.
