Yesterday, MeteoSwiss received the annual Research Award of the Swiss Forum for International Agricultural Research (SFIAR) for the CLIMANDES project. The cooperation project between the Peruvian meteorological service SENAMHI and MeteoSwiss and other partners was awarded for their commitment to smallholder farmers in Peru. CLIMANDES provides user-tailored climate services for this particularly vulnerable group, helping them to better withstand the consequences of extreme events. The initiative has been on-going since 2012 and is financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and coordinated by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
