Project tabsOverviewThe overall objective of the Associated Programme on Flood Management is to support countries in the integrated management of floods. APFM activities can be summarized in three major categories: Compilation of guidance and advisory materials Capacity building on Integrated Flood Management (IFM), and creation of a network on IFM Development of pilot projects and support in the implementation of National Strategies for IFM. To carry out these activities, APFM launched in June 2009 the HelpDesk on IFM, a user-friendly interface to allow potential users of APFM services to request assistance on the implementation of IFM strategies. The APFM is a contribution to the Global Framework for Climate Services especially with regards to GFCS priority areas of disaster risk reduction and water, and marginally of health, agriculture and food security. Since the launch of the HelpDesk on IFM, APFM is following a demand driven approach to deliver assistance, in terms of know-how and expertise, to countries requesting capacity development in the field of Integrated Flood Management.
